The Age of Reckoning
The Age of Reckoning Here we stand on the rubble of a disastrous season. I think it comes as no surprise that we have a lot to prove. Even with all of our faith and optimisms, we can’t deny this fact. Now, that isn’t to say we don’t have a stronger engine pushing us along this year. That isn’t to say we don’t have more reasons to have faith. It can be extremely easy to get used to playing with a handicap after last years struggles. Not this time, putting the temporary issue of Haywood’s ankle aside.
There have been reasons for us to have faith. For a change of pace, we have a healthy team that seems focused and ready. We have the impending return of our iconic point guard in Gilbert Arenas. Not to mention, we have a coach that has already proved he could turn a franchise around in Detroit. None the less, we have faced the struggles with this organization. There has been plenty of scrutiny toward our team. I think we all can agree that isn’t likely to change this season. In fact, I think the public’s examination of our Wizards is only to be amplified. Be that as it may, we are still here, we are still fans.
The question still remains, is it over? Are we going to see the end to the days when the Verizon Center is packed with people wearing the opposition’s jerseys? Whether those days have passed or not is irrelevant. It’s simple to follow a team with a winning record. It shows character to remain loyal to an organization in a state turmoil. I urge you to make no mistake, we are the mighty. In the end, if all of our expectations have been met, we can look the ‘naysayers’ in the face and grin. After all, we told them so.
