What’s Eating Gilbert?

Will the Real Gilbert Arenas please stand up? A myriad of interviews have led to subjective speculation regarding our proverbial anchor.  One thing for certain, you get what you see - sense of humor and a passionate personality. No question about it, recent interviews have had an odd aura; I’m not here to sell papers though. A few words in The Post or a clip on ESPN cannot define any individual – certainly not Gilbert. After all, he hasn’t even worked up a sweat.  Something about actions speaking louder then, what’s that word I’m looking for … oh yeah, Words. Who are we to say what is on the mind of our Pride, our Joy and our HOPES?

How often have we seen Champions under scrutiny? How often have we seen them cave in just to grow stronger from mistakes? Someone once said, “You don’t get tomatoes thrown at you until you get your head above the patches.” In the case of Arenas, let’s hope we see that head above the rim - all year! Is this the next phase of an illustrious career? Does he have the character and heart of a Champion? Yes. There is no telling what The Wizards can expect this season. Who knows? Gilbert could be in a better place than ever. He could even be wounded again (Please No), Perhaps his game is off (NOT). Opinions abound … and yes, they too Rebound. That’s not up to us … is it? At the end of the year, the real Gilbert will have stood up and regardless of anything they say or write - Fate will take its own course. Most importantly, Gilbert will still have The Heart of a Champion.
