Triple Double by The Great Wall of Chinatown

Wizards/Rockets Asian Heritage Night

John Wall did something for the first time that I'm sure that we will see plenty of more times in our lifetimes.  John scored 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assist which equals to his first ever triple-double.  A great sight to see for Wizards fans.  He showed more patience and control of the offense this game than any other game.  Reason being was because Coach Flip Saunders stated after the game that John had been watching film of former NBA Legend John Stockton."

John Wall Dunking

Flip went on to say that it was 'Fun to watch.'

"Show's you how coachable he is." Flip continued.

I asked John about the game and he simply said, "we got kicked out of practice and we came back motivated." I also asked about his flow/comfortability on offense, "This is a great offense, i feel like i try to do too much, trying to split a screen, or force a pass, or penetration, that leads to too many turnovers.but watching film and trusting my guys more is helping us out."

John Wall had one of the sweetest plays that would surely make a ESPN Top 10 (unless LeBron made 10 fantastic highlight plays in which the Top 10 would all go to him).

Coach had nothin but great things to say about Al Thornton.  Even though Al doesn't have a contract extension yet, sounds like the more he plays like he did against the Rockets, the better the chances are of him staying here. "Al has been great, no one has been talking about him, he's been a silent guy, from beginning to end, he is our more consistant guy."

Al Thornton THROWING it down!

Al went on to say that, "we did a good job [on defense], talking on defense, weak side rotations,we were clear on our coverages on pick and rolls, we did a good job and we were able to go out in transition where we are best at, clearly."

Gilbert didn't have a great game, maybe because he is overweight? Coach stated that, "he needs to lose weight."  Wait, he has to lose weight? What? Oh yeah, I forgot that he was injured. Just funny to hear Coach say that about the $100 million dollar man.

Wizards WE to Watch was Yi Jianlian, as an estimated 400 million people were watching this game.  Who needs a Superbowl when you have two of China's finest players in Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian.  Yi told me that he was excited that everyone in China was watching.  Said that the whole team was playing pretty good especially on defense. Yi finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Much improved game as he was more motivated as all of China was watching ofcourse.  If Yi can play like this every game, he will have a great home here in Washington for the long haul

Yi

Somebody in China was pissed because Yao left the game with a left leg injury (what a surprise).  Everyone wanted to see the much anticipated Yao v.s Yi.  What better than Asian Heritgage Day! Too bad but the country of China and ofcourse the US and A got to see the Wizards put on a great display of team basketball with a win.

UFC's Finest at the Game

I was honored to run into the one and only, UFC Champion, Rashad Evans.  He was one of the coolest dudes that I have ever met!  He was there on behalf of MicroTech, who sponsor Rashad.  I got to interview him and guess who his favorite player is? Yup, you guessed it, LeBron James! When I heard that, I told him that I could take him, he then continued to laugh.  Good thing he was laughing because I didn't feel like getting choked out after a great win.

Here is a game recap by our very own and beautiful, Pam Chvotkin!

Random Thoughts

* Gilbert was wearing the Black and White Jordan XII

Gilbert's Shoes Jordan XII

* Magic Johnson was at the game sitting courtside right next to the Wizards bench along with Wizards owner Ted Leonsis.  Magic spoke to the team before the game.

Magic and Ted

* Andray Blatche, that man will make an all star one day.  He was very smooth and even pulled out the "Hakeem The Dream" Olajuwon move on Luis Scola.  He is the Wizards only consistant big man in the front court.

* Here are two guys who are rocking jeresy's that you wont find anywhere.  They actually told me that they made it themselves, custom made.
