One Fan Gets Closure
You might have got the sense that as a fan, I love Nick Young. I love what he brings to the team, I don’t question his shot selection and I value his three-point shooting ability.
But as a fan, I’m willing to accept the truth, and now actually look forward to the future.
You can attribute that to one Mr. Jordan Crawford.
Nick Young has a history of some streaky shooting, but you could always count on one thing; when he got hot, he wasn’t missing hardly any buckets.
But when Jordan Crawford gets hot, he’s not missing any buckets.
Three pointers, layups, jumpers; you name it. They’re going in.
The trade rumors have been circulating since last season of a possible trade including him. I was never okay with it until tonight.
The way that Jordan Crawford has played against the Magic and the Cavaliers has made me at peace with the idea that the Wizards organization will more than likely deal Nick Young.
His third-quarter shooting spree against the Magic had me on the edge of my seat as he lead the Wizards on a terrific run, that if they held, he would be the main reason for a win against a division rival.
His impressive shooting (31 points on 13-22 field goals) against the Cavaliers tonight IS the reason why the Wizards snapped their six-game losing streak. His hot play is infectious, too. When Crawford is on the court, everyone around him seems to feel it. John Wall ended up scoring 24 points, as well.
There’s just some kind of magic on the court when Crawford gets hot.
Do I expect him to score over 30 points a night?
No.
Do I expect him to bring a sense of urgency to this team in critical stretches?
Yes.
That’s the difference I find between Nick and Jordan.
And because of that, I’m starting to accept that getting rid of not just Andray, but Nick as well, is truly going to further this rebuild and start clean with most of the players gone from the “big three” era.
