Wizards Player of the Game
The player of the game was clearly Nene. Now that’s what I call a debut. Nene made Ernie Grunfeld look like a genius if only for one night and he certainly looked like the prized free agent from this past offseason. He started the game off hot and never looked back. His energy was contagious and the team seemed to feed off of him.
Nene just dominated all night finishing with 22 points and 10 rebounds and controlled the paint better than 2 JaVale McGee’s.
WE’s to Watch/WE Spotlight
John Wall - While his numbers didn’t blow you away - 12 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds - John played an efficient game. With the Little General Avery Johnson on the Nets bench (until the 3rd quarter), Wall channeled his inner general directing the team and facilitating for his teammates rather than looking to score.
Deron Williams – Williams finished the game with 17 points and 4 assists while playing only 26 minutes. He and Avery Johnson were both ejected with 5:23 left in third for arguing no calls. Even when he was in the game, he didn’t dominate like he is known to do. You got the feeling that after missing out on Dwight Howard the Nets might have gone into tank mode.
The Good
Let’s start with the emergence of Kevin Seraphin. He has brought instant productivity off of the bench. Last night he put in 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1, block, and 1 assist in only 16 minutes. That’s what I call bench play.
The Bad
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I don’t have anything to bad to say about the Wizards play last night. If I have to find something bad about the win last night it would be that I’ll end up eating more Papa John’s Pizza than necessary today.
The Ugly
Michael Lee from the Washington Post tweeted a picture of the box score during the game and our captain Andray Blatche didn’t receive a DNP – Coach Decision, he received a NWT (Not With Team) – Conditioning.
