MYSTICS PLAYER OF THE GAME

Michelle Snow. She didn’t have a huge night in the box score, but in the fourth quarter, she scored her 3000th point of her career on a shot that gave the Mystics their first lead of the night after being down by as much as 24 points at one time. Although she didn’t have huge numbers, a milestone like this deserves recognition.

THE GOOD

The fourth quarter. The Mystics went on a 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter off to tie the game for the first time. The fourth-quarter run was continued from the third quarter where the Mystics managed to cut the 20-point halftime lead down to 10. The Mystics kept the same intensity and kept chipping away at the Lynx and showed a vast improvement on the boards and even winning the turnover battle. While the Mystics couldn’t hold onto the lead in the final seconds, the fourth quarter proved that this team has what it takes to contend with any other team in the WNBA and stay positive enough to keep pushing when the defecit is extended.

THE BAD

Lack of attention. The Mystics, for the second game in a row, did not keep their mental focus in check as they let the shot clock nearly run out on many different plays. At the end of the first, they had four seconds to get a shot off, but Natasha Lacy did not realize there was only four seconds left and ended up dribbling the ball out instead of getting a shot off before the quarter ended.

THE UGLY

The second quarter. The Mystics came out as cold as possible, letting the Lynx go on a 12-2 run to begin the quarter all while maintaining a field goal percentage of around 70%. The Lynx looked like a well-oiled machine and were firing on every cylinder, not missing any shots given to them from the Mystics. The Mystics battled to get some of the (at one point) 24-point lead, but still allowed the Lynx to get over 20 points in the quarter again.
