Wizards Player of the Game

The players of the game for the Wizards were Trevor Booker and John Wall. Booker finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. While Wall had 18  points, 10 assists, 3steals, and 2 blocks with only 1 turnover. he played very aggressively, attacking Dirk Nowitzki

WE’s to Watch/WE Spotlight

Dirk Nowitzki played like vintage Dirk Nowitzki. He finished with 27 points going 10-14 from the field. It seemed as if he made pretty much everything he put up and he did it with Trevor Booker playing solid defense for most of the game. When Dirk is hot, he is hot. He looked like a former MVP and reigning Finals MVP, oh wait he is.

Trevor Booker is making his case as the Wizards big man of the future.  The 17 foot jumpshot that he’s been working on this season was on full display. Booker came into the game looking to score and be aggressive and aggressive he was, gooing 8-13 from the field. He did a good job getting working to get foul calls although he only went 4-8 from the line. Despite Nowitzki shooting 71% from the field, Booker’s effort on defense was valiant. He smothered Dirk whenever he got the chance, it was just unfortunate that it didn’t matter.

The Good

The Wizards were competitive for most the game, even holding leads for extended periods of time. Once again, John Wall and Trevor Booker are looking more and more like franchise cornerstones. The team also did a great job getting the Mavericks into foul trouble, the Wizards got 38 shots from the foul line compared to the Mavs' 15.

The Bad

The difference in the game was at the free throw line. Even though the Wiz Kids took 23 more free throws, they missed 12 of them and that sucks when you lose by 9

The Ugly

The Wizards’ inability to close out quarters. It dosen’t matter how close you play a team if you allow them to go on scoring runs to end every quarter.

Wizards Player of the Game

Not many options to chose from in the game.  Wizards player of the game goes to John Wall.  Wall finished with 25 points, 4 rebounds, and somehow totalled 8 while his SG rotation of Crawford and Young shot 7 of 29.

WE’s to Watch/WE Spotlight

LaMarcus Aldridge - LaMarcus Aldridge showed why he is a first time all-star, posting a solid 30 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 12 of 15 from the floor.  He outsized and outplayed any opponent the Wizards threw at him.  He proved to be the x-factor, as the Wizards beat Portland less than a month ago when Aldridge stepped on Booker's foot a minute and a half into the game and did not return.  Tonight in DC, he was back and made up for missed time.

Trevor Booker - Booker only attempted 5 shots as opposed to 15 for Aldridge.  He was undersized matching up with Aldridge all night.  NBA.com lists Booker at 6'8 and Aldridge at 6'11.  Booker still showed hustle and toughness grabbing 10 rebounds in 33 minutes, but he could not match up with Aldridge's size and scoring ability.

The Good

Points in the paint - Even with the big game of all-star LaMarcus Aldridge, the Wizards (23/40) outscored the Blazers (20/34) by a count of 46 to 40 in the paint.

The Bad

seraphin camby

Seraphin vs. Camby -- Marcus Camby received a Flagrant 2 and was ejected for shoving Kevin Seraphin late in the 2nd quarter.  Seraphin took offense as you can tell from the photo above and received a technical foul for retaliating.  Seraphin went on to make both free throws from the original foul, while Camby went to watch the rest of the game in the locker room.

Shaking the Lineup

Written by CHARLES LAMAR on .

For most of the season I thought Randy Wittman would have to channel the spirit of Dr. Frankenstein to inject some life into the franchise.  He would’ve combined the outside shooting and size of Andray Blatche with the tenacity and hustle of Trevor Booker.

Next he would’ve combined Kevin Seraphin’s toughness and girth with JaVale McGee’s length and athleticism.

Lastly he would’ve combined Jordan Crawford’s unrelenting gunning and ability to find a bad shot in shootarounds with Nick Young’s... Oh wait never mind.

Wiz Kids "Shock" Kobe and Co.

Written by ABDULLAH SHARIF on .

If I told you that John Wall scored only 4 points on 13 percent shooting, or that the Wizards’ shooting guards (excluding Roger Mason Jr.) combined for only 13 of 38 shots, or that Kobe Bryant finished with 30 points while Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol each had 19, or perhaps that the Lakers owned a 21 point lead in the third quarter…..yet the Wizards still beat the Lakers, what would you say?

You’d probably just stare at me blankly. And then you’d slap me.

Now pretend I told you none of that and I began the conversation with this instead: Trevor Booker had 18 points and 17 boards including 8 offensive rebounds, Kevin Seraphin missed only one of his eight shots, Roger Mason, Jr. hit four 3’s, and Nick Young had six, count ‘em, SIX assists…and the Wizards beat the Lakers. Then what?

Wizards Player of the Game

Drum roll…

Trevor Booker, with a hat tip to Kevin Seraphin. Booker was everywhere. Hustling on what seemed to be every play and prompting his coach to say after the game, “I couldn’t take him out in the 2nd half based on the way he was playing.”

Book had a monster game on the stat sheet with 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting and 17 rebounds but what makes him so valuable are the things that don’t show up in the box score, the effort and hustle plays.

WE’s to Watch/WE Spotlight

Andrew Bynum - I really thought Bynum was going to dominate in this game. Seeing him up close and in person, he looks all 285 they state he does in the press guide. Seraphin did a phenomenal job in the 2nd half and helped keep the Lakers All Star Center to 6 rebounds and 7 turnovers.

JaVale McGee Had a relatively quiet 12 points and 12 rebounds in only 23 minutes. WE chose the right position, who would have known Seraphin would choose the Lakers to have his coming out party.

The Good

Dunks, three point shooting, Lakers, underdog upset, bloopers, hard fouls and a win against Kobe Bryant…that is plenty good.

The Bad

Jan Vesely got the dreaded “DNP – Coach’s Decision” on a night when every active Wizard player got burn. Not what Wizards fans want to see from the 6th pick in the draft last year but I don’t expect this to be a trend moving forward….I hope.

The Ugly

Ceballos Lakers

Go Wizards!!!!!!

Dear Andray

Written by SAAM BOZORGMEHR on .

Let me go to my music roots and quote the title of a great track by Avicii, "Enough is Enough." No, That's not that Flo Rida remix or "the one that goes dun dun dun, dunnn nah nah nah nah nah nah nah." Believe it or not, I've actually had someone sing "Levels" to me in a loud DJ booth as if I wasn't a real DJ. Let's just say that I much prefer Etta James' singing as oppose to white girl Sally. I could write a whole article about experiences in a DJ booth but I'm over this circus act and I'm tired of my city, team and fellow fans supporting someone who clearly does nothing but care about her own intentions. No, I'm not talking about Sally, but rather her older sister Andray.

At what point do we just let it go and cut ties? Clearly the benching wasn't enough, missing games due to injury wasn't enough, and now that he's back in the line-up, all Blatche seems to do is droop his shoulders and cry to the media.

NEWSFLASH DRAY: When your team is 8-29 and you're one of the higher paid players on the team, no one cares if you're upset that you're being boo'd at your arena. Just ask Rashard Lewis how it feels to go in to a game knowing that you're stealing money from a fan base. He's the expert.

I'm usually the first one to give people the benefit of the doubt. In the past, it's come back to haunt me because I'm one of those people who feel as though I might be expecting too much out of someone.

Well, forgive me for thinking that being a professional is asking for too much out of Andray Blatche. You may or may not have heard Blatche's most recent comments following the Wizards most recent loss to Golden State. It was a game in which Dray was not a factor in any way and was serenaded with a chorus of boos that at one point was so loud I could hear it over his sister's off tuned rendition of "Levels" in my left ear.
