You all might as well let him bunt once a game for the rest of the season. It's not like you're going to win anything anyway. Just sayin'

Injury puts Tejada's 'ironman' streak in real jeopardy

Miguel Tejada's consecutive games streak is endangered by a wrist injury. The Orioles All-Star shortstop has been diagnosed with a distal radial fracture of the left wrist, an American League source told ESPN the Magazine's Buster Olney on Thursday.

In Wednesday night's game against the Padres, Tejada was hit on the left wrist by a pitch from Doug Brocail. The source said that the left-wrist fracture, a non-displaced break, is viewed as being serious. If Tejada is forced to miss any action, his streak of 1,152 consecutive regular-season games played would come to an end. It is the fifth-longest streak in big league history and longest current streak in the majors.

Tejada, who appeared just long enough in Thursday's game to extend his run, hit a dribbler in the first inning that forced Brian Roberts at second. Chris Gomez then pinch-ran for Tejada and stayed in the game at shortstop.

"He said he was OK before the game," Baltimore interim manager Dave Trembley said. "He said he wanted to give it a shot. And when he got up there he didn't feel comfortable. When he didn't feel comfortable after that at-bat, he still wanted to play."

Trembley said he had to "walk a fine line between doing what's right for the team and what's right for Tejada, out of respect. Today, I took him out of the game for the team, but I allowed him to have that at-bat out of respect for him."

It was kinda bush league if you ask me....the whole pinch hit routine. Cal never pulled anything like that, hence the reason there will never be one like him....

Its a shame cuz i was a Tejada fan too, well he's only part to blame.

Seriously though, he wasn't going to catch Cal. Nobody will. the next closest person to Tejada is at like 216 right?

They put him on the DL.

And I agree. The whole bunting once thing was way bush league on his part.

Word is Tejada will likely miss two months.

This could hurt the O's playoff chances, right GOSKINS? ;)

I think where it really hurts the O's is that now they won't be able to trade him.

Lou actually did the same thing a couple of times during his streak.
