The first thought that came to my mind upon seeing this was maybe he killed his family then killed himself... I really, really hope that's not the case, but I'm having a hard time believing someone broke into his mansion and killed him and his family....

I don't know... regardless this is very, very sad news. The curse continues...

He was acting suspicious leading up to this. Basically no showing a PPV, and then no showing a house show the next day.

Well at the PPV last night, they said Benoit wasn't there because of personal reasons... and now today they're all dead. So who knows what's going on here...

Na it's not just you. There have been a lot. And not just wrestling either. It seems like someone young and who was involved in some type of athletics is forever dying. I guess the nature of it just puts a strain on a person. Or something. I don't know. There was something recently on Real Time Sports on HBO about all these ex football players who are all messed up. It was sad.

Football's biggest problem is concussions. At least from everything I've heard. Plus just the general wear and tear of the game you can see it on a lot of the players from the 60s and 70s.

It doesn't need to be said that wrestling's biggest concern is steroids. I'm not sure of the culture but from what I understand it's widely accepted in the wrestling community and I'm not sure theres a lot of regulation on it within the confines of the sport.

In regards to Benoit I do not think it was steroid related. Sounds seriously like foul play from outside or suicide/murder.

In regards to football i don't think people understand how serious that NFLPA (Gene Upshaw) and joe delamielleure fiasco is. I heard Ditka on two seperate ESPN radio shows and the more i listen the more i think Upshaw is a straight prick. The least those guys could do is help out the people that made it possible for them to be there.

I liken it to a fraternity...if a brother is ever in trouble he never has to look further than his fraternity....you never turn your back on the foundation of what your in - in any setting

You're right 0>23. Upshaw is a prick and it's a travesty what he's doing to the ex-players. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Think about boxing where there isn't even a union. Boxers are really left out to dry.

Investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old son, Daniel, over the weekend, then himself on Monday. A neighbor called police, and the bodies were found in three rooms.

So basically what they're saying ALLEGEDLY is, Benoit killed his wife and 7 year-old son on Saturday, called out of a house show Saturday night for "family reasons", no-showed the PPV the next night, and then killed himself today...

Ugh... sickening...

***EDIT*** - It was just been confirmed by WWE.COM that it was indeed a double murder-suicide. Sad... That's not the way I wanted to remember him...

Its sickening actually. Its one thing to take your own life.albeit a pathetic way out, its another to take not only your wife but dear god, to kill your child?

There are some harsher words i'd like to say, but IF proven to be correct, that guy deserves a nice toasty roast for the rest of time.

I know waiting for the evidence is popular choice, but the Sheriff's department has already stated they know what happened and they know all three causes of death. They are just waiting for the autopsies to confirm them...

They also said that when the imformation is released to the public, everyone will think it is "bizzare". Whatever that means...

nah F that, if your gonna kill yourself kill yourself dont take other people out......I mean I can understand if killing ur wife is she is a slut ( well not really but I mean I know people do that sometimes) but why your son....this pisses me off

Thats exactly what i was saying....not justifying the killing of the wife, but how in the hell could you kill your own child, a defensless child - i don't really care what the explanation was..

he deserves a very very warm lengthy stay in hell.

Ok I have some new info here but I'm not sure how credible this is, so take it for what it's worth:

On the ABCNews website someone has posted a comment about the details of the incident that have not yet been made public. He claims to be close to an investigator of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations:

Benoit's wife had killed their son by placing a garbage bag over his head. Then she had called Chris who rushed home and strangled her with an electrical cord. Then Chris had written a suicide letter explaining it all and killed himself Monday morning.

Again, there's no way to know if this is true or not, until all the details are officially released, but I will say that this scenario makes more sense to me personally, and it also coincides with the statement made by the Sheriff's department which was: "The details of this incident may seem bizzare to the public".

So I guess it's wait-and-see...

Well apparently my last post turned out to be false...

The AP is now reporting that Benoit strangled his wife on Saturday, then smothered his 7 year-old son in his bed on Sunday, and then hung himself in his weight room on Monday.
