Yeah. I like Zabian Dowdell, JR Reynolds and Darryl Watkins. Hopefully the Wiz can get at least one of them.
I heard we really liked the potential of Kyle Visser from Wake.

you talking about Lee Humphrey?

^ Well, it looks like the Wiz invited Lee Humphrey to the Summer League squad. Hopefully he makes the team. He's an automatic spot-up 3-point threat that the Wiz could use.
After going through two rounds undrafted, former Florida guard Lee Humphrey will attempt to latch on as a free agent with the Washington Wizards.
"He leaves for Washington on Sunday," Humphrey's father, Tony, said. "He'll be there all next week and then he'll be with them for summer league (in Las Vegas)."
Humphrey and his agent, Kenny Grant, picked Washington out of invitations from eight different teams.
"He (Grant) advised us that Washington presented the best opportunity," Tony said. "Lee is excited about it."
Humphrey, the all-time NCAA Tournament 3-point leader with 46, returned from a workout in Cleveland in time to watch the last 10 picks with his family in Maryville, Tenn.
The 6-foot-2 Humphrey was considered a long shot to get drafted despite the fact that he finished as Florida's all-time leader in 3-pointers with 288.
"If he was going to get picked, he was probably going to go during that time," Tony said. "But he was in good spirits even though he didn't get picked. He called all the other guys and congratulated them."

And Zabian Dowdell has accepted an invite to join Seattle's Summer League squad.
One member of the group, however, did not hear his name called. Zabian Dowdell was home at his mom's house in Florida, waiting for the phone to ring. The good news: his agent, Kareem Memarian, explains that even before the draft was over Dowdell had invitations to play for several summer league teams, and has decided to join Seattle's squad in Las Vegas, where he gets to audition in the role of "passing the ball to Kevin Durant."

You gotta like Lee Humphrey not only for his ability but also for the fact that he has been on a championship team for the past two years

3 other guys on that list appeal to me...
Ron Lewis, SG, OSU
Russell Carter, SG, ND
Kyle Visser, C, Wake Forest
If we landed any of those 3, I wouldn't complain.

you can't just make a statement like that and not back it with anything. Dowdell was an above average college player but to say he is the only potential impact player is just inaccurate.

Dowdell is the only one who would fit an actual NBA position and have the athleticism to hang with guys in the NBA. Visser is an unathletic white stiff who never did anything as a college player. Ron Lewis had a great NCAA tournament but wasnt really a great day to day performer for OSU. J.R. Reynolds is a shooting guard in a point guards body and Russell Carter is the same way. Other than that, the only other undrafted free agent who could make an impact is Humphrey because he would be a situational player who can be absolutly lights out.

Well, this team has lacked a 3 pt. shooter coming off the bench for years. It's one of the main things this team has needed. I know 3 pt. shooters don't grow on trees, but it has always seemed like every other good team had one to give their team a spark. I'd be happy with a guy that could shoot at least 3 3's coming of the bench.

Humphrey would fit that role perfectly. He would be much more useful as a roster spot than a guy like Calvin Booth, who is the third center off the bench who can't score, play d, or rebound.

Dont know what games you were watching last year, but Booth was sure as hell more of a center than Brenda or Etan was for us. As for Humphrey, 4 more games like last night, and he won't have to worry about coming off the bench..he'll be starring in Europe.

are you serious? Booth averaged 1.6 points and 1.8 boards per game. Where as both Brenda and Etan averaged over 5.8 boards and 6 points a game. We know that Brenda and Etan suck but to say Booth is better is just wrong.

Yes i am serious. And here is why.....
Brenda...
22.6 min p/game
Etan....
19.2 min p/game
Calvin....
8.6 min p/game
You can't bring up averages when the minutes aren't the same - Brenda and Etan you can compare they had 4 minutes seperating them, but give Cal Brenda's minutes and see if you don't get better results.

The point is, I would certainly hope that if Booth was better than Brenda or ETAN, EJ would have put him into the rotation, but he wasn't. There was a reason why Booth was on the Bench while Brenda and ETAN played like homo's on the court.

YES it is called, they make 10 times more per year than what Calvin makes.

Ah yes, Calvin Booth. He should get more playing time. We can't forget his clutch play. Like this one:

I remember that game. I was there and when he shot it, I was like "No, no, what are you doing? Yessssss!!!" That was a great play.

I agree, he does shoot a little weird. But as long as it goes in the basket, I could care less how his shooting form looks like, lol.

but do you trust him more inside then you do either of the two shmucks? I would much rather have Etan and Brenda inside than Booth, i'll admit Booth has much better outside shot then those two but Etan and Brendan are definintly better inside imo.
Dowdell is the only potential impact NBA player out of the undrafted free agents

Just to name one person for the sake of argument, who showed a hell of alot more IMPACT potential in Summer League,
Ron Lewis

Playing with the Rockets, and he looked pretty damn nice and got a hell of alot of respect from coaches around the league on his play.
Hell, Visser showed more of an impact than Dowdell did, and we all know what we think of Visser.....

Lets be serious, summer league performance isnt indicitive of any NBA projectability. Gerald Green dominated this year but is an 8th man at best in the NBA. You can't bring up stats as a definite barometer for how good a player is or is going to be becasue summer league attracts third year gunners (JR Pinnock) who are going to have huge numbers because they take shots that a real coach would never permit them to take.
Gunner and JR Pinnock should never be used in the same sentence. Gerald Green and Zabian Dowdell are on two different levels of the basketball playing spectrum. You can bring up stats in summer league when you are comparing other summer league players of the same status like i did.
While you point out that if a guy has great numbers in summer league that it doesn't necessarily translate well to the NBA, let me be the first to re-assure you, if he SUCKS ASS in summer league he will be lucky to be on a roster, much less (MOST LIKELY TO Be AN IMPACT - like you said)

Looks like out of all the guys listed here only Daryl Watkins made an NBA roster. I think a few other undrafted rookies made it on different teams but it is amazingly hard to make an impact in the NBA as an undrafted rookie because of the limited amount of minutes compared to other sports. Though since we only have 12 healthy players, if anybody gets hurt for any period of time I am sure we will be wheeling and dealing in 10 day contracts.

You're right for the most part. It wasn't from this past Draft, but Jamario Moon had a nice rookie season (he was undrafted when he entered the 2001 Draft) for Toronto and he made the All-Rookie Second Team this season.
