so now that the Wizards are going to sitting from the sidelines for the rest of the playoffs what do you think could of been done differently during the season that could of prolonged the season longer?
I know the obvious is to blame the injuries which I think were a large portion of our undoing but id like to discuss/blame other factors you might have in mind. :mad2:

I know a lot of people like to blame Eddie Jordan but I don't really see it. I don't think he's a great coach but how many great coaches are there in the league these days? I can only think of five off the top of my head (Riley, Phil Jackson, Sloan, Popovich, and Nelson.) There are a bunch of up and coming coaches though, i.e. Skiles, Avery Johnson, Sam Mitchell. I'm willing to give EJ at least one more season and then take it from there.
I think our lack of depth really hurt us. I like Donell Taylor and Roger Mason JUNIOR and I believe that Jarvis Hayes has a bright future in this league along with Blatche but I don't none of them really contributed much. Hayes had some big games but he would follow them up with just absolute disasters. Ruffin and Boothe are Ruffin and Booth. Songaila was really the only who did anything and his defense was eh.
Then there's our big men. Etan and Brenda. Brenda is just a woman and is completely worthless. Guy on Full Court Press on NBC4 said tonight that you could buy one of those FatHead cut-outs and put it down low and you would get more out of it then you would out of Brenda. Hopefully he won't be back. Etan has tons of heart and absolutely busts his ass but he lacks size and skills.
D Steezy (DeShawn Stevenson) just layed a complete egg in the entire series. You couldn't pay his shot to show up. That REALLY hurt us. Jamison and AD could only do so much and D Steezy didn't contribute anything.
I'm sure I missed something but that's all I can think of now. Basically though, besides AJ, Gil, and Caron not missing time with injuries, I don't think anything really could have been done during the season that would have changed things. The Wizards, without Gil and Caron, were who they were in the playoffs. I think some things can be done this offseason but that's a discussion for another thread.

wel gacolb....theres alot of good points that u got, like our depth, thats something we gotta work on, if we had any depth, we could have atelast won a game or two against Cleveland...
2nd...we need quicker guys, like the warriors, they have quick guys, so they can play the FULL COURT PRESS, which we SHOULD BE PLAYING,
3rd, we need more youth so we can run our princeton offense when we are at the halfcourt offense but we have to run back and forth like its a marathon...thats why i love watching the suns and warriors...they are the perfect example on how we should play, just run and gun....
4th...We need a center who can run back and forth....basically someone like an Oden, or even a Hibbert, who can play the pinceton offense better then any big man out there...
it should get real interesting with Ernie Grunfield to make these crucial decisoins....cause ARENAS WILL LEAVE if nothing happens.....

I like all the reasons so far from you guys and would like to add 1 more. I believe Andray Blatche should have gotten more minutes during the regular season...And before you say he wasnt ready neither was Arvis and he got plenty of wasted time. AB got game that could of helped us win against the Lebrons.

very few have chimed in but its been said and ill say it again, Blatche should have been played more towards the end. I get the feeling they knew after the 2nd game it was over so they should played the bench like no tommorow.

I seriously wonder if EJ might have a problem with Blatche. I mean we can all see ourselves that he is a tremendous young talent and should get more PT. Maybe EJ isn't convinced. I figured after Blatche kept KG in check he would open his eyes.....guess not

i agree with the post above.
what we need to do before anything is evaluate our youth. we have blatche and pecherov is coming over. plus, we need to usethe draft to our advantage. all of things will determine what we do in the offseason to improve our death which was nonexistant during the playoff run.

ah, improve our depth, could not agree more, being 1 dimensional was def an issue. It basically revolved around 2 players which is fun in the short term but long term success hinges on depth and growth

Depth is great until you have to use it. And we had to use ours too much. That was our problem.
We have depth at a couple positions, and the bench isn't bad, but they're on the bench for a reason. When they have to step up and take the place of 2-3 all-star caliber players for a long period of time, the team is going to suffer.
