"On another free agent front, despite several reports, it was learned the Nets do not have interest in Washington's restricted free agent Andray Blatche."

This is a quote from the New York Post. I guess that all of those other articles were incorrect about the Nets wanting to get ahold of Blatche...unless this statement is complete bull****. It's hard to know who's telling the truth this time of year.

most of the Nets scuttle was before the draft, they could have changed their stance on that after they drafted Williams and resigned Vince. who knows as you see the Wash Times and Post both differ on their stories in some ways too.

^ Yeah, you could be right that because of the drafting of Williams, their plans could have changed in regards to targeting Blatche in the FA market. If this is true, then good. One less team to compete with in regards to bringing Blatche back (even though the Wizards have anyways all the intentions of bringing him back, regardless of who's competing for him I would imagine).

I hope that Blatche steps it up this season...especially with all the potential that he possess. I wonder though, what is our cap situation looking like? Could the Wiz signing DeShawn take us out of keeping Blatche?

Since Blatche is an "early bird" FA, the Wiz can sign him without using any of their MLE. Then the Wiz can use all or a portion of their MLE to bring back DeShawn if they choose to.

Here's what Ivan Carter wrote in his Insider blog on 6/21:
Because Blatche is an "early bird" free agent, the Wizards can sign him outright or match any offer made to him without dipping into their mid-level exception (a first-year salary starting at around $5 million). Oddly enough, the rule is known as the "Arenas rule" because Golden State was unable to match Washington's offer to him in the summer of 2003 because they could not go above and beyond the ML.

So, the Wiz could sign Blatche or match an offer made to him AND still have their ML free to sign other players (DeShawn Stevenson for instance). My bad on that.

Hey, thanks for that. I really think that our roster is going to vastly improve this season. Esp. if we can keep those guys. I just wish we could add some post presence
