I've been thinking about the fact that we really have to add a post player. That being said, I've been trying to determine who would be a good fit and who we could afford. I think that we should make a run at Orlando's Darko Milicic. I know that he's flopped thus far, but I really think that he'd do better in a more open, running offense. He doesn't require a whole lot of shots and is a mobile 7-footer. Here's what ESPN.com's Rumor Central said about him:

Waiting For A Call
Jul 2 - The Magic had said they wanted to re-sign Darko Milicic while also targeting Rashard Lewis. Because Milicic is a restricted free agent, they can match any offer. It's apparent the Magic are waiting on Milicic to present an offer sheet from another suitor.
Marc Cornstein, Milicic's agent, told the Orlando Sentinel it was "curious" that the Magic did not call.

"I talked to Darko. I'm not going to lie to him. I told him," Cornstein said. "He really had no reaction. Darko's laid-back. He just said, 'Do your job.'" -- Orlando Sentinel

Waiting anxiously to see how it would all play out was Darko Milicic, who had not -- repeat, had not -- received a phone call from the Magic (as of 5:30 p.m. ET) on his first day as a restricted free agent.
"Is he restricted or unrestricted?" Magic general manager Otis Smith told ESPN.com. "Look, Darko knows that we love him and want him here. What else is there to do?" -- Chris Sheridan Blog

"I didn't get a call from (the Magic) at 12:01, 12:02, 12:05 or 4:20 (Sunday) morning," Cornstein said. "I've talked to many, many teams around the league, but Orlando isn't one of them. I've learned not to be shocked with anything that goes on, but hey, it is what it is right now."
Cornstein said he wouldn't rule out the Magic at this point, but he is beginning to wonder if they have any desire to retain the 7-foot shot-blocker.

"I'm really easy to reach, but they haven't called," Cornstein said. "Until I have conversations with them, I won't know what direction they are headed." -- Florida Today

I'm down for kicking DS to the curb, trading Etan or Brenda for a backup SG, resigning Jarvis on the cheap (say what you want, Jarvis will average 15 ppg for a season in the future, and he did a helluva job on LeBroom in the playoffs) and using the MLE on Darko.

Per ESPN.com today, in the article about Rashard Lewis signing with the Magic, it says about Darko:

"The price for Lewis' services could grow, though. Unless a sign-and-trade arrangement can be worked out with Lewis' old team or unless it can otherwise shed a contract or two to create more salary-cap space in the next week, Orlando will have to renounce the rights to restricted free agent Darko Milicic to create the cap room to fund such a lucrative deal, instantly making Milicic an unrestricted free agent. Milicic, meanwhile, figures to have no shortage of free-agent opportunities if he is indeed released onto the open market, despite a fourth straight season marked by concerns about the 7-footer's intensity. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 draft by Detroit averaged just 8.0 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Magic in his first full season of regular playing time, but the 22-year-old did raise his game in the playoffs by averaging 12.3 points on 58.8 percent shooting in Orlando's four-game elimination by the Pistons in the first round."

I would love if we could somehow get this guy. Everyone also forgets how young he is as well.

I still love his potential. Every year, as he's gotten increased minutes, he's improved. I think this guy can really play.
